Kitty kitty kitty

Greetings again from the darker side – I have another short horror story out.

You can now find Puss in the UK-based Roads Less Travelled Magazine: Issue One as published through Midnight Street Press.

In a way, it is a companion piece to Grimalkins, a short speculative fiction of mine published in 2018 which also drags cats into the mess. I should never claim to be a fast writer.

I am amazed to see the other names included in the magazine issue! I spent a few hours this morning walking around in a bit of a daze. (During which time I decided I should try and update my website a bit, apologies if you’re feeling a bit bewildered by any changes you may notice.)

Wow.

All right, what else?

I am currently and surprisingly actually ahead on my poem-for-each-day project, as I’ve done a lot of writing in anticipation of taking some time off later this summer.

I have half a dozen more short pieces out in the world searching for a home.

I have made myself a malted milk chocolate drink “researching” for my cookbook project and this will not be the last time I do that.

I am still tinkering with a longer short story about body snatching that I promise I’ll return to working on any minute now. I am trying to write this story with narration in mind, which has been fun, except that the narrator I want keeps walking out of the recording studio on me. (To be clear, this is a metaphor, there is no recording studio – or separate narrator – at all.)

It would be really nice if the next story of mine that was picked up was a bit… happier… than Puss.

I do have some.

I am in search of a couple of contests to enter, as I have a goal of entering six this year and have only done so three times so far. Let me know if you know of any (ideally low-cost-entry) short story or poetry contests, please.

And I hope that if you’re so inclined to pick up the first issue of Roads Less Travelled, you will find something to thrill and chill you there!
