It’s six o’clock
which is not early
but it is not late
and I am awake
The rooster down the street
who still might be a hen
anyway no one has turned them in
it’s crowing again
Dawn has already arrived
the sky is already quite bright
in the distance I can hear work trucks
backing and beginning a shift
and freight passes on the highway
It’s time to start
get dressed get ready get going
on another days
it’s time to see what today might create
it’s time to turn on the radio and listen
find some music and dance
It’s time to take a chance
it’s time to preserve
it’s time to do something new
and something habitual too
It’s time to be silly
it’s time to get things done
it’s time to be ourselves
it’s six a.m. and twenty-three minutes
and this morning is on and just begun.
