Shells with Blanket Gravity (etc.)

Remember that non fiction piece I wasn’t sure I wanted to talk about? It’s out! It can be found at the first issue of Blanket Gravity. I was lucky enough to have the piece narrated as well! Thanks to Marie Minerva Estela and all other Blanket Gravity staff, for working with me to make this piece stronger. Thanks to Michelle Geoga for the art which accompanies Shells.

And, if you’re wondering, after you read or listen to Shells, no, I promise I don’t always feel like that about where (and how) I live, but I do sometimes.

I have not made any progress on the diorama of the detective’s office since early last month. I have gotten an early start on spring cleaning, however, and discarded a number of worn out story drafts and hats.

I’ve scored a movie re-watch hat-trick recently, and can recommend with-that-title-how-can-you-go-wrong Aggie Appleby, Maker of Men (1933) – relatively recent gore-comedy Shaun of the Dead (2004) – and 1950’s they-call-it-classic-for-a-reason Sunset Blvd. for whenever you’re feeling a bit sorry for yourself.

Unfortunately, I haven’t read anything in the past month that particularly stands out.

I’ve been listening to Dengue Fever (a band) again, they make me get up from the desk and dance, unless I’m being awestruck by a rendition of Pictures at an Exhibition (which I keep calling Portraits, but I don’t think too many people will mind.)

Back in February, I reported I had only six pieces left on my incomplete pieces list.

Friends, I have been hard at work dealing with the stories on that list. I have crossed three more stories off of it. But… there are now a total of eleven pieces on the list. Someone turned the inspiration tap back on before I was ready!

I have also started the third round of edits on my cookbook project.

What have you been up to?
